September 17, 2008--Musings from the world of Las Vegas golf this week include former UNLV All-American Chad Campbell playing for the U.S. in the Ryder Cup this weekend and reliving his first-tee jitters; Las Vegas pros making a mark on the Nationwide Tour and soon-to-be PGA Tour; a few Las Vegas golfers attemtping to qualify for the LPGA Tour; celebrities committing to play in events on Las Vegas golf courses; and we remind golfers of the world that the end of September through the rest of the year is when Las Vegas golf courses are in the best shape due to the overseeds that are now being completed. Plus, some Las Vegas WSNGA ladies are champs. "I remember my first Ryder Cup at Oakland Hills, and I've never been so nervous on that first tee box," says Campbell from Valhalla, site of the Ryder Cup. "But it gets a little bit better. But it always gets your juices flowing whenever you get up there on that first tee box, they announce your name from USA, and it's a great feeling, and that's what we all play for." |

Pete Dye's Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort Full of Beauty, Good Conditions, and Challenge |
September 7, 2008--Pete Dye twirled his design magic three times at the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort, Las Vegas golf's only 54-hole golf facility that is home to the Snow Mountain, Sun Mountain and The WOLF Las Vegas golf courses, all designed by the legendary Dye. The Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort is located about 30 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, a few miles outside the northwest area of town, but because of the distance away, these courses are set in a pristine and quiet setting. There are no houses to be seen, and it's just you, your friends and your golf ball as you play some of the prettiest holes in all of Las Vegas golf. Snow Mountain, the original, is highlighted by several holes that will be indelibly etched into your mind, including a solid three-hole finishing stretch. Another benefit to the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort during the late summer/early fall is that the courses are not overseeded and remain in good condition throughout the year. |

NYTimes.com Writer Boasts about Las Vegas Golf Course The Chase |
September 3, 2008--Las Vegas golf course The Chase at PGA Golf Club Coyote Springs is located about 50 minutes north of the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, and according to NYTimes.com writer Joe Passov, it is worth the trip. This Las Vegas golf course opened to the public earlier this year, and is a stunning visual design that blends very well into its desert surroundings. "This is a wonderfully low-key Jack Nicklaus design, with fast, undulating greens, an array of strategically deployed tattered-edge bunkers and just enough bells and whistles in the form of lakes, waterfalls and mountain views to lure potential home buyers to the new PGA Village at Coyote Springs," wrote Passov, who is also the architecture editor for GOLF Magazine. |
