December 9, 2008--With proper credit to UNLV Head Basketball coach, and Las Vegas golfer himself, Lon Kruger, the headline to this article steals the catch phrase from his Runnin' Rebel hoops team: "The Rebelution has begun." But the same could be said about the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour. The PGA Tour and LPGA Tour qualifying events are done and three more former UNLV Rebels earned exempt status on the world's biggest tours. Chris Riley (pictured) and James Oh earned full PGA Tour status, while Sunny Oh earned partial LPGA Tour status. December 3, 2008 (UPDATED DEC 7) --There are already seemingly dozens of golf pros with strong ties to Las Vegas playing on the major golf tours, but starting today, several more aspiring Las Vegas pro golfers are attempting to qualify for the LPGA Tour, Nationwide Tour and PGA Tour through the grueling Qualifying School process. Many of these Las Vegas golfers, including Charlotte Mayorkas (pictured), play and practice at the best Las Vegas golf courses including TPC Las Vegas and TPC Summerlin, among others. Read on for LIVE Leaderboards and up-to-the minute results. December 2, 2008--Chad Campbell was an All-American at UNLV, and has gone on to a very successful PGA Tour career that includes several wins and being a member of the U.S. Ryder Cup team three times. After two losses in his previous Ryder Cup experiences, he and his American teammates won the Cup in 2008, and recently celebrated by visiting The White House and meeting with President George Bush, who told them he watched every minute of the event. While at UNLV, Campbell played at many of the best Las Vegas golf courses.

December 1, 2008--The long run for Annika Sorenstam, by all accounts, is over, but who knows when she will decide to come back and play again. Lake Las Vegas Resort resident Natalie Gulbis hopes she plays more, but if not, Gulbis helped Sorenstam go out of top as part of the International Team at the Lexus Cup. Gulbis, who has called Sorenstam a "best friend", won her singles match on the final day and the international team defeated Team Asia 12.5-11.5. November 24, 2008--It's pretty difficult to set yourself apart as a champion in a pro tournament at Pebble Beach. But that's exactly what former Las Vegas resident and 2008 Las Vegas Golf Hall of Fame inductee Tommy Armour III has done by winning the Callaway Pebble Beach Invitational for the second time in a row. He becomes the only golfer to win this event in consecutive years, and joins Mark Brooks as the only player to have won the event twice. Armour III, who grew up playing Las Vegas golf courses, knocked in a very long birdie putt on the final hole to win, and barely survived after entering the final round with a 5-shot lead.

November 23, 2008 (UPDATED NOV 24) --Former Las Vegas resident Tommy Armour III was inducted recently into the Las Vegas Golf Hall of Fame, and attended the induction event at Las Vegas golf course TPC Summerlin with celeb friends Janet Jones-Gretzky and PGA Tour star Pat Perez. That's how Armour III rolls. And it's no surprise that Armour III is again enjoying huge success at the 2008 Callaway Pebble Beach Invitational--he won the title in 2007 and was five shots clear entering the final round this year--because the event has a casual, celebrity feel to it, and that's exactly where Armour III is most comfortable. November 7, 2008 (UPDATED Nov. 12, 2008) --Natalie Gulbis has made her home at Lake Las Vegas Resort--home of three Las Vegas golf courses--for several years, and it was an easy commute when the Wendy's 3-Tour Challenge was played at Jack Nicklaus' Las Vegas golf course Reflection Bay Golf Club that is located at Lake Las Vegas Resort. Because of that, when the LPGA Tour team won the Wendy's 3-Tour Challenge in 2007, they allowed Gulbis to keep the trophy at her home--where it stayed. November 4, 2008 (UPDATED 11/10/08) --There are several Las Vegas golfers in the field of 60 players teed it up in the 2008 Nationwide Tour Championship at TPC Craig Ranch in Texas (Skip to the UPDATE paragraph below for the final report). But Bill Lunde (pictured) and Scott Piercy are playing with house money because they sit at number three and four respectively on the money list and are assured of being among the Top 25 money leaders who will play the PGA Tour in 2009. But other Las Vegas golfers like Bob May, Michael Putnam, Skip Kendall, and Alex Prugh need a good finish this week to move up. October 17, 2008, 10 AM PST--New Las Vegas golfer Nick Watney fired an opening round of 63 at Las Vegas' PGA Tour golf tournament, the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, and is following that up early in round two as he is already 3-under through six holes and leading the Las Vegas golf event at 12-under par. Watney used some advice from Las Vegas golf pro instructor Butch Harmon, who he spent time with on the range at Las Vegas golf course TPC Summerlin before official play began. There are several other Las Vegas golfers battling for the title as well.
