Despite "Strange 2007 Start", Golfweek Writer Picks Adam Scott to Win The Masters |

March 31, 2007--Former University of Nevada, Las Vegas golfer Adam Scott was picked by Golfweek writer Jeff Babineau as the man who will become Australia's first champion of The Masters. In an issue that featured an overall article about the state of the game in Australia, Scott was one of several Aussies picked by different writers (others were Geoff Ogilvy, Stuart Appleby and Jason Day) to win The Masters. While at UNLV and playing and practicing at many Las Vegas golf courses, Scott was a freshman All-American and finished 11th at the NCAA Finals before leaving to go pro in the middle of his sophomore season. |

Tiger caged; Las Vegas Golf Pro Chad Campbell Advances |

Former UNLV Rebel Chad Campbell advanced to the quarterfinals of the Accenture World Match Play Championship being played in Arizona. He defeated David Toms in a close match that ended when Toms missed his short putt on the final hole. Campbell will play Stephen Ames. Campbell played on many Las Vegas golf courses as a Rebel including Shadow Creek, TPC Canyons and others. |

It was heady stuff in 2004 when two UNLV graduates, teammates and All-Americans, Chris Riley and Chad Campbell, made the same American Ryder Cup team. Campbell had done it with solid play throughout the previous two years, and Riley nabbed one of the final spots with a fourth-place finish in the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits, where he missed the playoff by one stroke. |
