Las Vegas Golfer Tommy Armour III Has Shot of Day at Turning Stone--Video Here |

September 24, 2007--Tommy Armour III, who grew up in Las Vegas and attended Bishop Gorman High School, had the shot of the day en route to a final-round 68 at the Turning Stone Resort Championship. He finished tied for 5th with fellow Las Vegas golfer Charley Hoffman, who was a member of the 1998 UNLV Golf National Championship team. Both earned $203,400. Armour III knocked in about a 90-yard wedge at the par 5, 18th hole for eagle. Click here to view the video that is posted at PGATOUR.com now. Chad Campbell Shoots His Best Opening Round of Year on PGA Tour |

September 21, 2007 (UPDATED in Bold 9/22/2007--5PM PST)--Former UNLV Rebel Chad Campbell, who has spent the last three years within the top 25 of the PGA Tour's money list, now finds himself way down the list at number 85 but an opening round 65 at the Turning Stone Resort Championship could help. Unfortunately, Campbell followed that 65 with two rounds of 72 to fall back into t tie for 38th heading into Sunday. The 65 was his best opening round of 2007, and when asked about his "struggles" he was philosophical syaing it's tough for anyone except a guy named Tiger. "It's a tough game," Campell told the media following the round. "You can never get it figured out. Or most of us can't. I think one person, one person's got it figured out. Las Vegas Golfer Natalie Gulbis Blogs From Victorious Solheim Cup |

September 16, 2007--Superstar Natalie Gulbis, who lives on the fairways of Reflection Bay Golf Club, once again was a part of a victorious United States Solheim Cup team, and she spent a lot of her time writing for an LPGA.com blog about the experience for LPGA.com. Before the event, Gulbis wrote in an email to GolfLasVegasNow.com that the first win, two years, ago was her most memorable golf moment. In her blog, she writes about the tough conditions that they overcame: "The conditions today were very difficult; it is very windy and freezing. The temp (is) about 45 degrees ... Brrrr! We have hand warmers, long johns, turtle necks, back warmers, ski caps, sweaters, you name it ... lots of layers." The US team defeated the international team 16-12, with Gulbis earning a point for the US in Sunday singles with a win over Gwladys Nocera. |

Lake Las Vegas Resort Golfer Natalie Gulbis Relives Most Memorable Golf Moment |

September 11, 2007--Earlier this year, Las Vegas golf's own Natalie Gulbis, who plays out of the Las Vegas golf courses of Reflection Bay Golf Club, the Falls Golf Club and SouthShore Golf Club, at Lake Las Vegas Resort, won the Evian Masters. It was a big win, but maybe not her most notable, as in 2005 she went 3-1 for the US in Solheim Cup. "Winning the Solheim Cup in 2005 was the most memorable week in my golf career," Gulbis wrote via Blackberry from Halmstad Golf Club in Sweden, site of the 2007 event. "Playing for the USA and in front of 100k fans chanting USA was incredible. I have been working hard for two years to make this team. I am looking forward to a great week. |

Las Vegas Golfer Ryan Moore in FedEx Cup Week Two Mix After 66 |

September 1, 2007(UPDATED 9/4/07)--Former UNLV golfer and current Southern Highlands (one of the most exclusive private Las Vegas golf courses) resident Ryan Moore is looking good after the first round of the Deutsche Bank Championship, an event in the inaugural FedEx Cup, the PGA Tour's new (confusing) playoff format. Update: Moore entered the event in 52nd place, but a third-round 77 dropped him off the top of leaderboard and into a 41st place finish and a tumble to 57th in points, just good enough to qualify for this week's BMW Championship. Fellow Las Vegas golfers Adam Scott (9th in points) and Charley Hoffman (53) also made the BMW but Tommy Armour III, Dean Wilson and Chad Campbell all missed moving forward. Las Vegas Pro Golfers Returned to Sender at FedEx Launch |

August 27, 2007--PGA Tour notes: The six Las Vegas pro golfers dueling for the cash--even if it is defferred until retirement--got off to a 'UPS' start at the Barclays--clcik here for final results--over the weekend. Only Adam Scott, Charley Hoffman and Dean Wilson made the cut, but they were well off the pace, finishing 14th, 48th and 60th respectively. Defending Las Vegas PGA Tour event, the FRYS.com Open, champion Troy Matteson also finished in 48th. Ryan Moore, Tommy Armour III and Chad Campbell all missed the cut. Scott did move up one place in the overall point standings, from 10th to 9th. |

And six golfers with Las Vegas golf course ties and/or ties to the UNLV golf team have qualified for the playoffs. Adam Scott (pictured) is ranked number 10 while Charley Hoffman (46), Ryan Moore (51), Dean Wilson (75), Chad Campbell (106) and Tommy Armour III (111) also have chance at the $35 million in bonus money and $10 million that goes to the overall winner of the FedEx Cup. Two for the Money, Three Las Vegas Golfers Miss the PGA Show |

August 12, 2007--There were five Las Vegas golfers with strong ties to Las Vegas who teed it up at the PGA Championship in Southern Hills, but by the weekend only two remained. Australian Adam Scott, still ranked in the top five players in the world and a student of Butch Harmon at Las Vegas golf course Rio Secco Golf Club, rebounded a bit from recent poor play, finished in a tie for 12th while fellow UNLV Rebel Chad Cambell finished in a tie for 57th. Las Vegas Golfer Gulbis 'Living the Dream' at Women's British Open |

August 3, 2007--Fresh off her first LPGA Tour win, Natalie Gulbis opened with a 73 in the first round of the Ricoh's British Open. Obviously she is thrilled with the win, but she quickly was back focused on winning more events, and the continuation of the fine-tuning of her swing. Before the Open, she sat down and spoke at length about all things Natalie. "It's like living in a dream," Gulbis said about her win. "It's always been a dream for me to win an event and to be able to actually accomplish a goal or a dream. It's so much fun. Winning an LPGA event has always been a goal of mine, and to actually be able to accomplish my goal is huge and I've been really excited for the last few days, and it was a great moment for me."
