Las Vegas Golf Hall of Famer Brady Exber Joins 'The Club'

Image August 23, 2008--Brady Exber has won just about everything an amateur golfer in the Las Vegas area can win. He's won multiple (8 at last count) Southern Nevada Golf Association Player of the Year awards, several major Southern Nevada amateur golf tournaments, a couple Nevada State Amateur titles, and he is already a member of the Las Vegas Golf Hall of Fame. And now, at the amazing age of 52, Exber is getting some national respect. Exber was recently featured in a Golfweek article and on Golfweek TV. The coverage came after Exber made the cut at the U.S. Amateur at Pinehurst and then made it to the final 32 in match play. “When you play in the national tournaments, you have to feel you belong in this club,” Exber told Golfweek columnist Ron Balicki. “Being 52 years old and being from the West, it’s sometimes difficult to feel you're part of it.” Balicki summed up his article by writing: "To Brady Exber, I say, welcome to 'the club.' It’s where you belong." Click now to check out Exber on Golfweek TV.

Original Las Vegas Junior Golf Founder Back Involved as President of The First Tee

Image July 9, 2008--For Joe Kelly, a longtime Las Vegas PGA of America professional who now operates the three Las Vegas golf courses at Golf Summerlin (pictured), giving back to the game of golf has been a lifelong pursuit. Kelly has managed and worked at several Las Vegas golf courses over the last few decades, and during that time has been involved in many big events and causes, but possibly his most rewarding accomplishment was being one of several people who helped create the Southern Nevada Junior Golf Association. Around 1976, Kelly, along with Joe Lepire, Jr., Scott Greer, Tim Webster, Dick Huff, and others, created the organization that focused on offering competitive tournaments for the area's best junior golfers. And over the years, the association produced many college golfers and a few pros, including Las Vegas PGA Tour golfers Robert Gamez, Craig Barlow, and Edward Fryatt, and LPGA Tour pro Stephanie Louden. Now, some 30 years later, Kelly, who took some time away from his volunteer efforts to focus on family and business, is back involved with The First Tee of Southern Nevada, and is very pleased to have come full circle.
