Peers Vote Las Vegas' Butch Harmon Nation's Best Golf Instructor ... Again

Image July 7, 2007--In his decade or so of living in Las Vegas, Butch Harmon has collected seemingly every accolade there is. He was named to the Southern Nevada Golf Association Hall of Fame, he won several VegasGolfer Magazine Instructor of the Year awards, and he has been named by his peers as the best several times, including recently in the list compiled by Golf Digest. It was the fourth-straight time he was named the best, and who can argue? He helped Tiger Woods become the best in the world, and when he split with Woods he helped Adam Scott become a top five player, and then he was sought out by the world's number two player, Phil Mickelson, for assistance. Harmon came to Las Vegas to open the Butch Harmon School of Golf that operates on the back end of the range at Las Vegas golf course Rio Secco Golf Club. The school is open to the public, and now the instructors who work under Harmon are also gaining recognition, notably Shawn Callahan who is working with PGA Tour winner and Las Vegas resident Charley Hoffman.

June 20, 2007--Well, the ending of the Medalist Tour’s Paiute Classic at the WOLF course is the same as the first two events of 2007, but the story unfolded a bit differently. Exber shot 75 the first day with 30mph+ winds on the Wolf course at Las Vegas Pauite Golf Resort while Richard Mcintosh shot 79. Sunday was a bit calmer, both in the scoring column and the wind column, and Exber shot 72 while Mcintosh caught him with a stellar round of 68.

"This event can be life changing," Berry told VegasGolfer Magazine editor Bill Bowman before the event. "I owe a lot of this to Monte Montgomery at Shadow Creek.
