LAS VEGAS, Nevada--February 5, 2010--Golf is becoming more and more popular as a sport to bet on, and we here in Las Vegas are fortunate to live where the best oddsmakers in the world are located. And Jeff Sherman, the founder of Las Vegas' GolfOdds.com, has long been known as one of the premiere golf betting oddsmakers, and he has a future bet posted currently. Tiger Woods (4/1) is still listed as the favorite to win the Masters.--By Brian Hurlburt.
Sherman is a quoted expert throughout the industry and media (including often here), and notes on his website that all futures bets are "action" whether or not a golfer plays or not. But Sherman did suspend the odds on his annual Tiger Woods proposition bet for number of majors to be won. When released, Tiger was 3/2 to win 0 majors and 25/1 to win all four, but Sherman took the wager off the board on December 11, soon after Tiger announced his leave from the game. He also suspended the futures bet for the FedEx Cup on the same day. Not only are the best oddsmakers here, but the Las Vegas area is also home to more than 50 Las Vegas golf courses designed by the biggest names in golf including Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Pete Dye and many others. TheFedEx Cup golf betting odds were similar when released and before being shut down. Many of the favorites and betting numbers were similar. Mickelson was listed at 5/1 while McIlroy was at 20/1 with Steve Stricker. Kim, Furyk and Harrington were 25/1 while a group including Sergio Garcia and Hunter Mahan were at 40/1. The field was listed at 4/1, and some of the names that would be considered part of the field include Rickie Fowler, Michael Sim, and Las Vegas' Charley Hoffman. Watney was 60/1. Rumors swirl that Tiger could be coming back soon than later, and Sherman could re-open the odds at that time for both the Tiger and FedEx Cup prop bets. |
