Sometimes you’re judged by the friends and neighbors you keep. So what does it say about a course that is located across the street from Las Vegas legends Siegfried and Roy? It says that legends flock together. Las Vegas Golf Club is one of the granddaddies of Las Vegas golf, but even after 60 years on the scene it’s still a pleasure to play. It may be the purest test of golf available in Southern Nevada. It's like an old friend.

Like Las Vegas, the course started with humble beginnings—neighborhood families kept up the course—but it has evolved into a solid test and enjoyable place to tee it for locals and visitors. The course is now managed by the award-winning EAGL Golf—Painted Desert is another Vegas EAGL course—and has been upgraded over the years with a new clubhouse, some hole renovations, and other bells and whistles that allow the course to have a modern feel while still sticking to its historical roots.

Way back when, the PGA Tour played at Las Vegas Golf Club, and annually the Southern Nevada Golf Association plays the Las Vegas City Amateur on the course. Future PGA Tour players have won the event numerous times including former UNLV Rebel Edward Fryatt who won the event five times in a row from 1989-1993.

Las Vegas Golf Club is a traditional course that features back-to-back fairways, mature trees and strategic bunkering. You will be able to find wayward shots here, but you might have to maneuver around or under the many trees.

The par 5 9th hole, and the par 18th hole are golflasvegasnow.com favorites. The 9th is reachable for big hitters, but a front bunker makes the approach difficult, while the 18th doglegs left over a fairway bunker to a large green guarded by a sandtrap short and right of the hole.
