Unfortunately, Danny Gans (The Mirage headliner) and Tim Herron missed the Pro-Am cut at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, but Gans was one of the featured celebrities--maybe the most featured--during CBS' telecast of Saturday's third-round. Gans and Herron missed the cut by three strokes, even with a solid round of 66 in the third round. The 66 joined a first-round 66 and a second round 69. Gans spent much of the back nine on Saturday doing impressions for the television audience and the large crowd at the event. On the telecast, he was seen doing Rodney Dangerfield, Dr. Evil and Austin Powers, Dean Martin, Andy Rooney, and Gregory Peck that morped into an impression of CBS announcer Jim Nantz. Nick Faldo, also calling the action for CBS, had nice words for Gans, saying he was doing a "fine impression of a golfer" after Gans tucked in a nice pitching wedge on a par 5 hole. He narrowly missed the birdie putt. Phil Mickelson and Harry You lead the pro-am while Las Vegas pro Robert Gamez and comedian Tom Dreeson are in second place. Complete third-round pro-am scores Earlier in the week, and according to Las Vegas Review-Journal golf writer Kevin Iole, Gans boomed a 300-yard drive off the first hole of the 3M Charity Shootout, and he and his partner George Lopez finished second to Kevin Costner and Carson Daly in the event. The 3M shootout is one of several events that takes place before the actual event gets underway. Other celebrities in the 3M Shootout included Don Cheadle, Lopez, James and many others. Many of these celebrities have teed it up at Las Vegas golf courses like Rio Secco Golf Club, Cascata, Shadow Creek, Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort, Bali Hai and others. Gans is also being sought out by a lot of national media including the Golf Channel, CBS and the Wall Street Journal. All AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am information |
