Jim Furyk, who has won 3 PGA Tour events played in Las Vegas, was four shots off the lead of the NISSAN Open following the first round. Trying to figure out a new driver was a challenge, and his round might have been a little better had he had some more time.
Jim Furyk was the champion of the Las Vegas inviational in 1995, 1998 and 1999, and is the all-time leading money leader in the Las Vegas event, now called the FRYS.com Open, that is played at Las Vegas Golf courses TPC Canyons and TPC Summerlin. Furyk broke his favorite driver in an event in China, and has been struggling to replace the club. "For the most part, I drove the ball pretty well today," Furyk said after the first round of the NISSAN Open, where he stood at 4-under par. "You know, it takes time. One tournament round or a couple days of pracitce isn't enough time. I spent a lot of time here on Monday, trying to dial in again. It's better than last week. But I really only had the pro-am yesterday, and today's tournament round. I will know a lot more by the time this week's over. It takes time to get really comfy. But it's much better than what I've been playing with." Furyk is using a TaylorMade driver, as he did last year. Book your Las Vegas Golf Course tee time or golf package
