 June 1, 2007--Former University of Nevada, Las Vegas golf star Adam Scott surged at the PGA Tour's Memorial golf event. After a solid opening round 70, he then started the second round going 9-under through his first 12 holes with nine birdies including a stretch of five-in-a-row and eight out of nine holes. With six holes left to play, Scott, at that point, needed four birdies to get to 13-under par to tie the all-time PGA Tour scoring record. But Scott settled for two pars, a birdie and a bogey on holes 13-16 before adding another birdie on 17. In total, he played the last six holes in only one-under par, but the round of 62 still pushed him to the top of the leaderboard. And another Rebel, Charley Hoffman, has one of the shots of the tournament, a chip in for eagle on the par 5, 5th hole, even though he is in danger of missing the cut. See Adam Scott's scorecard ... LIVE ... now. In 1991, Chip Beck recorded a 59 at Las Vegas golf course Sunrise Country Club that matched the only other 59 in PGA Tour history shot by Al Geiberger. Scott has many ties to Las Vegas including being one of golf pro Butch Harmon's main players, even with the addition of Phil Mickelson to Harmon's roster Scott is a past winner of the PLAYERS Championship, and won the Shell Houston Open earlier this year and finished second at the Mercedes Championships. He has won more than $2 million and stands 7th on the Fed Ex Cup standings through his first eight events. David Duval is the only other PGA Tour player to have fired a 59. Scott, like many other Las Vegas Tour pros, has played many of the best Las Vegas golf courses including Shadow Creek, TPC Summerlin, Southern Highlands, Las Vegas Country Club and TPC Canyons among other Las Vegas golf courses.
