 June 30, 3007--The Johnny Miller-designed Badlands Golf Club, a Troon Las Vegas golf course, has full summer rates in effect, and other summer happenings going down. Currently, the Desperado nine holes--the facility is 27 holes--are closed due to the construction of nine brand new, bent grass greens that are scheduled to be playable by October 1 of this year. But while those holes are closed, the Diablo and Outlaw nines are open, and course operators say the conditions are very good. Plus, true Las Vegas golf course value rates are available for visiting and local players. Visitors to the Las Vegas Golf Region can play the course for $100 on the weekends ($60 after 11 AM), and for $80 Monday thru Thursday ($55 after 11 AM). The legendary Chi Chi Rodriguez consulted on the golf course design with Miller, and the two created a truly memorable Las Vegas golf challenge.
Locals can call the Badlands pro shop (242.4653) to secure up-to-the-minute local rate information, but as with all Las Vegas golf courses, they can receive special rates with valid Southern Nevada identification. The Troon Challenge qualifying event takes place at the Badlands on July 10, and golfers have the potential to qualify into the event that will culminate with the finals to be played in Arizona. Official Troon Challenge information ... now.  Another benefit to playing the Badlands this summer is that the golf carts at the Las Vegas golf course feature the Cool Well cooling system. The Cool Well system makes playing in the 100 degree heat a little easier. But the fact is, playing golf here in the desert at 100 degrees with very little humidity is much better than playing in 90 degrees with very high humidity, as is the case with other golf destinations. A cool towel and water makes the round a breeze, no matter the temperature.
