Lake Las Vegas Golf Resort Rocks Out With American Idol Spinoff Print E-mail

Image October 19, 2007--Who says golf isn't hip. Earlier this year, the management of Lake Las Vegas Resort was approached about being the host site for the "Next Great American Band" reality show premiere, and they jumped at the chance. The show is a sinoff off of the hugely successful American Idol, and could introduce the billion-dollar Las Vegas golf resort to a new demographic. Lake Las Vegas Resort is home to three Las Vegas golf courses, Jack Nicklaus' Reflection Bay Golf Club (resort) and SouthShore Golf Club (private), and Tom Weiskopf's The Falls Golf Club (resort). Complete Las Vegas golf packages are available at the Loews Hotel and the Four Seasons. “Working with FremantleMedia and 19 TV on a project of this caliber is very exciting,” said Cary Krukowski, director of marketing for Lake Las Vegas Resort. “Though our resort – and our city for that matter – is no stranger to high-profile entertainment, we are always thrilled to be associated with events of this magnitude and we look forward to the series premiere.” The show airs tOct. 19 at 8 PM ET/PST.

Conducting a nationwide search for "The Next Great American Band", the producers of the ultra-smash-hit “American Idol” filmed the series premiere of their latest talent show at Lake Las Vegas Resort back in August, when music moguls Sheila E., John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls and Ian “Dicko” Dickson critiqued band hopefuls, each competing for a recording contract, on a specially-constructed stage on top of the resort’s massive helipad.

The show follows musical groups of all ages, styles and genres through a grueling, multi-phase contest in which they are eliminated down to the Top 12 by the judges. The semi-finalists will be challenged to a new musical theme each week, performed in front of a live studio audience, and American viewers will vote to determine who moves forward in the competition. Ultimately, only one band will be left standing, crowned the Next Great American Band.
