November 14, 2007--Following her first career win, UNLV women’s golf freshman Therese Koelbaek was named Golfweek’s Player of the Week on Tuesday. Koelbaek won the USF Richmond Country Club Invitational with a two-over 215 over three rounds, including posting a final-round score of two-under 69. Koelbaek helped the Rebels finish third overall at the tournament.
It was the first medalist honors for Koelbaek, a native of Holte, Denmark, who was playing in just the fifth collegiate tournament of her career. The win marked the 10th time that a Rebel golfer had won medalist honors in the school's six-plus years of golf. The invitational was the last fall tournament for Koelbaek and the Rebels, who will resume play in the spring at the Wildcat Invitational on Feb. 25-27 in Tucson, Ariz.
