May 5, 2008--Spanish Trail Golf and Country Club is hosting the Lon Kruger Open “Going Down Under” Charity Golf Tournament on Wednesday, May 21. The Club’s members will play in the exclusive 18-hole scramble tournament for $1,000 per entry and enjoy a shotgun start followed by cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and awards at the clubhouse. The tournament raises funds to help send the UNLV basketball team to Australia to participate in an international basketball tournament. As the 2008 Mountain West Champions, the Runnin’ Rebels will get the opportunity to play against world-class professional basketball teams; providing a unique experience to face new opponents in high-level competition.
Dominic Guzzo, General Manager at Spanish Trail comments, “Many of our members are UNLV alumni and/or huge supporters of the Rebels. We are pleased to show our support by assisting the ball club with their fundraising efforts.” "We are excited about our team's trip to Australia and are very appreciative of the efforts of Spanish Trail Golf and Country Club in assisting with our fund-raising efforts," said UNLV Head Coach Lon Kruger. "This tournament will benefit our basketball program in many ways, and thanks to the support of our Las Vegas community and members at Spanish Trail, this trip has been made possible." Spanish Trail Golf and Country Club is an exclusive haven of timeless elegance, nestled in a 640-acre enclave of spectacular homes, lush landscaping, and welcoming camaraderie.
