Las Vegas, Nevada (September 8, 2010)--The teams are set, and the defending champions will soon be on their way to Wales for the 2010 Ryder Cup. And Jeff Sherman, founder of Las Vegas' GolfOdds.com, has released the betting odds. Europe opened as a slight favorite at -.5 points and -140. The United States is +.5 points and +120. The Ryder Cup is October 1-3 at the Celtic Manor Resort. Las Vegas resident Rickie Fowler is on the United States team, and is one of five U.S. rookies. --By Brian Hurlburt.
"Action is minimal until the days leading up to the Ryder Cup," says Sherman, who is also the assistant director of the Las Vegas Hilton Superbook. "We tend to see more action on the individual matches, especially the Sunday singles, than the odds to win the Ryder Cup itself. Even though the USA won the last Ryder Cup in the States, Europe is a slight favorite due to their overall recent domination and a return to European soil. With the USA now the defending champion, the atmosphere will be extremely heated. Tiger Woods recent issues will only add fuel to that as if the tournament isn't charged up enough."
