Las Vegas, Nevada (August 23, 2011)--Here we go with the 2011 FedEx Cup Playoffs and with no dominant Tiger Woods playing, the race to the Cup is wide open according to Las Vegas golf betting experts. Luke Donald is a 10/1 favorite to win the overall FedEx Cup and also enters the Barclays as the favorite at 12/1. "The playoffs start on a new course in Edison, New Jersey," says Las Vegas GolfOdds.com Founder Jeff Sherman. "Plainfield Country Club is a Donald Ross designed course which should play most similar to the AT&T National's Aronimink track. Nick Watney, Ryan Moore and Justin Rose are a few who might excel under the similar conditions. Other than that, the rest of the odds are compiled by most golfers current form. The Fedex Cup odds have been up all season and are power structured based on current standings and golfers form. In such a short format over four events, outsiders have a shot at lifting the trophy if they can get hot over 5 weeks and 4 tournaments." Stricker is also atop the PGATour.com Power Rankings as written by Rob Bolton. He is followed by two golfers with ties to Las Vegas golf courses. Former UNLV golfer Adam Scott is second followed by Dustin Johnson who works with Las Vegas Golf Region resident Butch Harmon. Scott is 15/1 to win the Barclays and also 15/1 to win the overall Cup. Johnson is 25/1 to win the Barclays and 20/1 to claim the Cup. Harmon keeps his school at Rio Secco Golf Club. Donald is fourth in the Power Rankings.
Bolton writes the following about Stricker: "Mr. September arrives at the final event in August with 11 consecutive top 20s, including a pair of victories. Leads the PGA TOUR in Strokes Gained - Putting, scrambling, birdie average, actual scoring average and par-4 scoring."
