Official PGA Tour 2011 Deutsche Bank Betting Report: Just Like Any Other Event

Las Vegas, Nevada (August 30, 2011)--For Las Vegas golf odds maker Jeff Sherman, creating the line for the PGA Tour FedEx Cup Playoffs--in particular the Deutsche Bank Championship--is pretty much like doing it for any other tournament. For this week, Sherman, who operates Las Vegas' GolfOdds.com, Steve Stricker and Luke Donald are co-favorites at 12/1. --By Brian Hurlburt, Odds by Jeff Sherman.

"It's the same concept (creating the odds) ... this week we return to a course that has been played in prior years to give handicappers more to go on than last week," says Sherman. "The odds this week are very similar to last week outside of those that performed exceptionally well or poor ... Steve Stricker has the most consistent top form in previous years here, showing why he is a co-favorite even though he finished 24th last week. The four tournament playoff has a rarity from the the standpoint of having the same group of golfers (outside those eliminated) each week thus the odds order should be fairly simple to follow."

Other notable players and odds to win include Nick Watney, Dustin Johnson, Adam Scott, Matt Kuchar and Jason Day all at 20/1. Scott is a former UNLV golfer while Nick Watney is a resident of the Las Vegas Golf Region. He and Johnson work with Las Vegas Golf Region resident Butch Harmon, who operates the Butch Harmon School of Golf at Rio Secco Golf Club. Click to GolfOdds.com for complete betting odds.

According to the official PGATour.com Power Rankings created by Rob Bolton, Watney is the top of the list. Watney is followed by Day, Johnson, Kuchar, Donald and Stricker. Bolton writes the following about Watney: "Closed out a share of 10th place at The Barclays with a bogey-free 64. Ranks 30th on the PGA TOUR in greens hit, second in strokes gained-putting and third in adjusted scoring. Prone to wicked-hot streaks with his putter."
