Official 2011 PGA TOUR Championship Betting Report: Vegas Golf Experts Like Donald, Simpson

"It seems open taking when you take out the consistent top performers Luke Donald and Webb Simpson," says Jeff Sherman, founder of Las Vegas' GolfOdds.com. "Expect them to contend on Sunday for both the tournament and thus the overall FedEx Cup. The top five golfers control their own destiny for the Cup but others need some help getting there ... should be interesting."

The official Power Rankings at PGATour.com also favor the betting favorites with Scott next followed by Simpson. Rob Bolton, who compiles that rankings, believes greens-in-regulation will be a key to victory. "Most of this week's elite group will be pleased to see that the rough is quite playable due to a dry summer," writes Bolton about Eastlake Country Club. "The Atlanta area hasn't replayed the drought of 2008 but hitting fairways won't require the same elevated level of importance as in recent years.Therefore, greens in regulation is the primary goal as the putting surfaces should hold incoming approaches even from lies off the fairway. The rough is merely 2-1/4 inches, so grooves should grab, allowing for a rise in birdie opportunities. And this is the first time in East Lake's 11 years as host that there hasn't been any changes to the course since the previous edition."
