Las Vegas, Nevada (October 4, 2011)--Tiger Woods is back this week, teeing it up in a Fall Series event for the first time. And he is listed as the favorite by Las Vegas' GolfOdds.com, opening at 7/1 to win the Frys.com Open. And according to the Las Vegas PGA Tour golf betting experts, the public started betting on Tiger as soon as the odds were posted. Las Vegas Golf Region resident and last week's champ, Kevin Na, opened at 25/1. --By Brian Hurlburt, Odds by Jeff Sherman.
"In a field with this lack of quality it is far from what is expected to see, first of all, Tiger playing, and second of all, Tiger with odds of 7/1," says Las Vegas' GolfOdds.com Founder Jeff Sherman. "It just goes to show the longevity of his issues and inability to return to form. Within minutes of the odds hitting the floor, Tiger started receiving support at the 7/1 odds." Woods recently fell out of the Top 50 in the World Golf Rankings and hasn't won a tournament in more than two seasons.

According to the official PGATour.com Power Rankings, Woods is listed as the seventh favorite (Na is 8th) while Spencer Levin heads Rob Bolton's list. Bolton writes the following about Levin. "This is about as home-game as it gets for the Sacramento native, who plays out of Lake Merced GC in Daly City, which borders San Francisco to the south. He's coming off a T5 at the JT Shriners, his fifth top 10 of the year. Ranks 34th in greens hit." The Frys.com Open is played at Cordevalle GC is San Martin, Calif.
Sherman also posts individual matchups odds on GolfOdds.com and for the Las Vegas Hilton Superbook (where he is the Assistant Manager) but stayed away from Woods because of the big difference between his odds and the other favorites such as Na, Levin (25/1) and Paul Casey (25/1). "When making matchups I try to pair golfers in a similar odds range and form, thus this keeps Tiger from being offered in a matchup with his large disparity in the odds to win," says Sherman.
