Official PGA Tour Betting Report 2011 McGladrey Classic: Fowler, Simpson, Deep Field Playing

Rickie Fowler bettingLas Vegas, Nevada (October 11, 2011)--The official PGA Tour season is winding down but a deep field at The McGladrey Classic has the Las Vegas golf betting experts excited. Webb Simpson opened as a 12/1 favorite followed by Rickie Fowler and Matt Kuchar at 15/1. Simpson is battling for the 2011 money title and Fowler is coming off a win in Korea. --By Brian Hurlburt, odds by Jeff Sherman.

"The McGladrey Classic is a home tournament to many golfers including Zach Johnson and Davis Love III," says Las Vegas Hilton Superbook assistant manager Jeff Sherman about the event in Sea Island, Georgia. "The next to last PGA Tour event should have some intrigue regarding the season long money list with Webb Simpson vying for the title. Rickie Fowler is coming off his first career pro win in Korea and his odds reflect the momentum he might be carrying back with him. For a Fall Series event the field strength is exceptional." According to PGATour.com Power Rankings expert Rob Bolton, Simpson is also the favorite but Fowler is ranked 10th in the field. Kuchar is ranked fourth. Bolton writes the following about Simpson: "Rested since the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola. Ten top-10s this year. Remains first in the all-around. Sits $68,971 in arrears of idle money leader, Luke Donald; a two-way T15 would move Simpson into first. Season's top earner gets five-year exemption."
