Kevin Na a Las Vegas PGA Tour Betting Favorite at Texas

Las Vegas, Nevada (April 17, 2012)--In 2011, Kevin Na became the first resident of the Las Vegas Golf Region to win the hometown PGA Tour event. The win at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open was the first of his career, and now the Las Vegas betting experts believe he is playing some of the best golf on the PGA Tour. Na opened at 20/1 to win the Valero Texas Open, and was among the favorites. --By Brian Hurlburt, odds by Jeff Sherman.

Matt Kuchar was released as the favorite at 10/1 while Fredrik Jacobsen was also 20/1. Fellow Las Vegas Golf Region resident Charley Hoffman was 25/1 along with K.J. Choi, J.B. Holmes and a few others. In the head-to-head matchups, Na was even against Jacobsen (-120) while Hoffman was even vs. Holmes (-120). For more Las Vegas golf PGA Tour betting odds visit GolfOdds.com.

Featured course: Las Vegas National Golf Club, the home of 18 holes of historic golf just minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. The course hosted the PGA Tour's Tournament of Champions in the sixties in addition to other LPGA Tour and PGA Tour tournaments.

"Kevin Na comes in with the finest of form and thus warrants being joint 2nd favorite in Texas," says Jeff Sherman, the Founder of Las Vegas' GolfOdds.com. "Last year's missed cut result is misleading as most remember the 16 he carded on the par 4, 9th in the first round, which essentially took him out of the tournament. Charley Hoffman is also playing some of his better golf of the young season, with 2 top 20's in his last 4 events, not to mention a 13th and 2nd in both attempts on the AT&T Oaks course. There should be ample support for these two local golfers for this event. Do keep an eye on Bud Cauley, Cameron Tringale and local Texas golfer Jimmy Walker as those three could well be worth backing at decent odds for this relatively weak field." Cauley is 25/1 while Tringale and Walker opened 40/1.

As for the official PGATour.com Power Rankings as written by Rob Bolton, Hoffman is getting a ton of respect as he leads the rankings. But Na is getting zero respect as he isn't listed in the top 10. Bolton writes the following about Hoffman: "An annual contender at this event, with five top 15s in six starts including both at TPC San Antonio. Co-runner-up last year. Placed T8 at last week's RBC Heritage, ranking T7 in greens hit and T6 in birdies. He also converted two eagles."
