August 7, 2007--When Arthur Hills designed Legacy Golf Club--in Las Vegas!--he knew he wanted to leave some kind of exciting, true Vegas-sy mark on the Las Vegas golf course. So, after he and his team pondered the situatuon, they came up with what today could be one of the most memorable holes on any of the top Las Vegas golf courses. The "suits" hole is the 10th hole at Legacy, and features each of the four tee boxes designed in the shape of a suit in a deck of cards. The hole is dramatic from the air, and gives the course added intrigue for those who play it.
Recently, one visitor who played the hole at this Las Vegas golf course couldn't wait to get there. "Is the next one the deck of cards?" the guy asked the rest of his foursome. When the answer was met with a yes, the golfer's face lit up, and he quickly forgot the double bogey he was in the process of making on the par 5, 9th hole.
Sister Las Vegas golf courses to Legacy Golf Club are Angel Park Golf Club and Aliante Golf Club.
The spade is the back tee (193 yards), the club is the blue tee (172 yards), the diamond is the white tee (153 yards) and the heart is the yellow tee (131 yards).
Hills has built more than 185 golf courses worldwide, and has commented that the 10th hole at the Legacy Golf Club is one his more memorable, and definitely one of his most unique.
The 10th hole is also the gateway to the challenging "Devil's Triangle", made up of three par 4 holes where players can either make good scores, and or get trapped and make disastrous numbers. The Devil's Triangle is made up of the par 4, 444-yard, 11th hole, the 381-yard, par 4, 12th hole, and the short--sometimes reachable--324-yard, par 4, 13th hole. Placement off the tee and precise iron play is key to good scores. |
