October 22, 2009--The Las Vegas Golf Region is made up of more than 60 world class golf courses, designed by the biggest names in golf. Nicklaus, Fazio, Dye, Jones, Palmer are just a few of the names that have etched their golf design magic in the Las Vegas desert. Plus, this area has been home to events on the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour and Champions Tour, and is routinely home to major celebrity events and other made-for-television events, such as the upcoming Wendy's 3-Tour Challenge, to be played November 10 at Las Vegas resort golf course Rio Secco Golf Club. And now organizers of the Golf Industry Show have announced that the major show is moving to Las Vegas in 2012.
The dates of the show will be Wednesday, Feb. 29, and Thursday, March 1, while presenting partners the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) Education Conference and the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) Education Conference will be conducted February 27-28 and March 2. The Golf Course Builders Association of America (GCBAA), the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA), the National Golf Foundation (NGF) and the United States Golf Association (USGA) are participating partners in the event. The Golf Industry Show now joins other national golf events that are held in and around Las Vegas golf courses including Tiger Jam, a major fundraiser for the Tiger Woods Foundation; the PGA Tour's Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open; the WAC Golf Championships; major college golf events for the UNLV men's and women's golf teams; the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship; the World Series of Poker; the Wendy's 3-Tour Challenge, where 3-player teams from the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, and Champions Tour compete against each other; the PGA Fall Expo; and several others. The featured Las Vegas golf course for this article is Mesquite's Wolf Creek Golf Club, 18 holes of fantasy golf located in Mesquite, mini-golf mecca located about 70 miles from Las Vegas. Wolf Creek is annually highly ranked in the "Best of" magazine national lists. In a joint statement, executives of the GCSAA, NGCOA, GCBAA, ASCGA, NGF and USGA noted their solidarity for the Golf Industry Show, support of the site selection process, and enthusiasm for Las Vegas: “We are excited to be heading to Las Vegas. The city has been identified as a desirable venue for the event by attendees and the exhibitors. We are firmly committed to the show and the process we’ve followed to make it a world-class event. We would be remiss if we did not express our appreciation to the CMAA for partnering to create the Golf Industry Show and collaborating to develop it into a key event for the golf industry. All the Golf Industry Show partners will continue to work with the CMAA on initiatives that make the game stronger." Executives of the CMAA, Club Managers Association of America, a founding partner, recently announced that the organization was leaving the show. The 2010 show is in San Diego. The Golf Industry Show is an innovative trade show designed for the owners/operators of golf facilities and the professional members of the golf course and club management industries. The event combines education, networking and solutions for golf course superintendents, owners, operators, club managers, chief operating officers, architects and builders. The Golf Industry Show is continually ranked by Tradeshow Week magazine as among the top 100 trade shows nationally (out of the more than 3,500 conducted every year). The PGA of America Fall Expo, a major industry show for professionals, has been held in Las Vegas for several years as well. |
