Las Vegas Golf March Madness To Come Back With UNLV and Lon Kruger

Las Vegas, Nevada (March 24, 2010)--UNLV Head Basketball Coach Lon Kruger is fresh off leading his UNLV basketball team to its 3rd NCAA tournament in four years, but he is now helping to organize a Las Vegas golf tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society. The Coaches vs. Cancer Las Vegas Golf Classic is scheduled for May 23-25 at two Las Vegas golf courses and is open to all. Click now for tournament information.

The 2010 event is being co-hosted by the coaches of the Mountain West Conference, four of whom led their teams to the NCAA tournament. It was the first time in conference history that four schools made the Big Dance in the same year. The other three coaches, besides Kruger, who led teams to the tournament were Steve Alford, New Mexico; Dave Rose, BYU; and Steve Fisher, San Diego State. With it being hosted by various coaches, golfers from all over are expected to attend and enjoy golf in Las Vegas while helping a very worthy cause.

The three-day event will kick-off with a "Party at the Palms" on Sunday, May 23 at 7 p.m. Fans are invited to mix and mingle with coaches from the Mountain West Conference as well as other coaches from throughout the nation in the Palms Casino Resort's stunning two-story, 10,000 square-foot Hardwood Suite - equipped with its own basketball court and scoreboard. Following the kick-off event, two days of golf will take place at TPC Summerlin (May 24) and Southern Highlands (May 25).

“Coaches vs. Cancer is a wonderful organization,” Anthony told RebelNation.net during last year's event. “Cancer, in general, has just profoundly impacted my life. My mother died from it at the age of 49, my grandfather … so I always try to get involved. What Coach Kruger and the rest of the coaches have done in trying to get the message out and to promote this cause and raise dollars for it I think has been significant. I think it’s going to continue to grow. We had an amazing turnout. I think they’re going to raise a lot of money. It’s always nice to be able to come back and give back in your own community. Coach Kruger is unbelievable. He’s done a great job with the program and also a great job within the community.”
