Las Vegas PGA Tour Star Charley Hoffman Teams With Justin Timberlake Event for New Pro-Am

Charley Hoffman brings a new pro-am to the JT Shriners Open in October Las Vegas, Nevada (June 30, 2010)--Charley Hoffman is a bit of showman, so it seems only appropriate that the former UNLV golfer and currrent PGA Tour star has teamed up with the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open to hold The Charley Hoffman Foundation Pro-Am on the Monday of tournament week (Oct. 18) at the host course, TPC Summerlin. Hoffman, who won the 2007 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic and was a member of the 1998 UNLV golf team that won the NCAA title, still lives in Las Vegas and credits his time here as a big reason for his success. Now you're invited to play with him and his pro buddies while helping good causes.--By Brian Hurlburt.

Hoffman and his wife Stacy created the Foundation in 2009 to raise awareness and financial support for a variety of children’s charities in their native San Diego as well as their adopted hometown of Las Vegas. The inaugural Charley Hoffman Foundation Pro-Am was held in February 2010 in San Diego and helped raise more than $100,000 for the San Diego Junior Golf Association (SDJGA). This will be Hoffman’s First Pro-Am event in Las Vegas and will benefit the following Las Vegas charities: Blessings in a Backpack, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Goodie Two Shoes Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Las Vegas, as well as the Transportation Fund of the local Zelzah Shrine Temple.

"It feels great to be able to give to a community that has supported myself and my golf career since college," says Hoffman. "I wouldn't be who I am without the PGA Tour and Las Vegas. "It will probably be one of the best golf experiences you can have in golf. You will get to play the same golf course as the pros during the same week as the PGA Tour event. You get to experience what the pros go through week in and week out with the speed of the greens and the length of the rough in a more relaxed atmosphere than most pro ams. It will also give you a chance to meet a quality pga professional and maybe do some business with clients on the golf course at the same time."

Hoffman is one of the more than 30 tour golfers from the major tour whos have strong ties to Las Vegas golf courses, and many are expected to participate in the Monday tournament. The Las Vegas Golf Region is also made up of many golf courses, besides TPC Summerlin, that are designed by the biggest names in golf including Tom Fazio, Rees Jones, Jack Nicklaus, and others. One of those Las Vegas golf courses is The Chase at Coyote Springs, a Jack Nicklaus design. You can click now for the official website of The Chase and reserve your Las Vegas golf tee times for this course.

Participants of the Pro-Am will enjoy the unique opportunity to play a round of golf inside the ropes of an official PGA Tour tournament course alongside a professional PGA Tour player. The modified shamble will start at 1 p.m. after Hoffman provides a clinic, divulging the secrets of his great golf game.  Concluding play, participating amateurs and professionals will honor winners at a reception on The Hill, the tournament’s entertainment pavilion, overlooking the 18th hole of TPC Summerlin. Entry fees are $2,000 per player and $7,000 for a foursome. Space is limited. For questions and to register for the event, contact Erica Lee at 702.589.4949. This investment may qualify for a tax deduction as an entertainment expense incurred in connection with a charitable sporting event. Please consult your tax advisor for information.
