Open Championship Courses Like St. Andrews Can Be Combined With Las Vegas Pro-Am

The castle-like clubhouse welcomes golfers at Royal Links, where 3 holes from St. Andrews are replicated Las Vegas, Nevada (July 14, 2010)--The spotlight annually shines across the pond as the best golfers in the world go for the Claret Jug at golf courses such as Carnoustie, Royal Troon, and this year, St. Andrews. And when that shine comes, sometimes golfers think about Las Vegas' Royal Links Golf Club, a resort course that honors the holes and courses played during the Open Championship. Regular Las Vegas tee times can be made at the course or you can combine a round there with rounds at Bali Hai Golf Club and Desert Pines as part of the Walters Cup Pro-Am, to be held November 14-18, 2010, with a $20,000 purse. This special Las Vegas golf tournament is being held in conjunction with the Aria at CityCenter, and features four nights at this new resort plus the three rounds of golf and various parties and other gifts and specials. The price is just $1,795 (price increases to $1,995 after August 1) for amateurs, while pros bring a team are free. There will be an opening party at the Aria View Bar and a closing ceremony at the award-winning Cili Restaurant at Bali Hai.

But this week we focus in on Royal Links Golf Club, the course that offers holes from the most historic golf courses in the world including those mentioned above many of the others played during the Open Championship. The Road Hole at St. Andrews is one of the holes at Royal Links Golf Club, complete with a scoreboard to hit over, a road behind the hole and the infamous wall. Golf has been played at St. Andrews for nearly 600 years, and when playing at Royal Links Golf Club, you will learn about the big moments because each hole has a monument with information about big moments, while other statues and memorabilia dot the course and the castle-like clubhouse. Bali Hai Golf Club brings tropical golf from the South Pacific to the middle of the Las Vegas Strip while Desert Pines Golf Club is often referred to as "Carolina golf in the desert" for its tree setting and various water holes.

There are actually three holes at Royal Links that have been inspired by the holes of St. Andrews. The Open Championship is played at St. Andrews every five years, with the last four champions being Tiger Woods (2000, 2005), John Daly (1995), and Nick Faldo (1990). The holes that are at Royal Links which were inspired by St. Andrews are "Hell Bunker", the "Heathery" and the "Road Hole." One final note about Royal Links is that when those that have played the actual courses, they also enjoy the replications and the overall environment of Royal Links Golf Club.
