Joining Johnson and Watson on the PGA Tour team will be Boo Weekly, a member of the 2008 U.S. Ryder Cup team. Johnson will be very familiar with the course and the area because he trains with Las Vegas golfer Butch Harmon, who operates the Butch Harmon School of Golf, which is located at Rio Secco Golf Club. Johnson has had a big year and is coming off a win at the BMW Championship, and heading into the Tour Championship, he was second in the FedEx Cup standings. Johnson had earned seven top 10 finishes through the BMW event, and had earned more than $4.3 in 2010.
Las Vegas' Rio Secco Golf Club is a Rees Jones design, located in the canyons and hills overlooking the Las Vegas valley. This Las Vegas golf course is operated by Harrah's Golf, and is the sister course to Cascata, another Rees Jones-designed Las Vegas golf course. Cascata will also be the home to official Wendy's 3-Tour Challenge events. All Las Vegas golfers, visiting or local, are welcome at both Las Vegas golf courses. Both also offer official Las Vegas golf packages at their official websites, and Rio Secco is the home to the world-famous and beautiful T-Mates female caddies.
Watson, who also played in the Wendy's in 2009, is enjoying a career year in 2010 with four top-10 finishes, including his first career PGA TOUR victory at the Travelers Championship. He has earned a career high $3,051,998 so far in 2010, placing him 12th on the PGA TOUR money list. Watson is currently ranked No.2 in driving distance on the PGA TOUR with a 309.3 yard average and will be competing for team USA in his first Ryder Cup this October.
Weekley, a first-time Wendy’s 3-Tour Challenge participant and fan favorite, has two career PGA TOUR victories to his credit, and so far in 2010 has recorded three top-10 finishes. The colorful Weekley garnered worldwide attention for riding his driver "cowboy horse" style down the first fairway during the 2008 Ryder Cup. Those close to the event also say that the same LPGA Tour team from 2009, Las Vegas' Natalie Gulbis, and Suzann Petterson and Christie Kerr, will be back to play and defend their 2009 title.
