September 20, 2010--The First Tee of Southern Nevada is the leading junior golf group in the Las Vegas Golf Region, and once again the group and board of directors are holding the annual Danny Gans Partee Fore Kids, a memorial pro-am that honors Gans, a longtime supporter of the organization. Some celebrities have already confirmed for this Las Vegas golf charity tournament, and those names include Ken Howard, Richard Karn, and Barry Jaeckel. The organizers of the 2010 Danny Gans' Partee Fore Kids Celebrity Pro-Am Memorial Event presented by Cox Communications unveiled the first three, of a scheduled 32 celebrities and pros, who have committed to participate. The event is hosted by SouthPoint Hotel, Casino & Spa and DragonRidge Country Club, a terrific Las Vegas golf course located within the exclusive MacDonald Highlands community. Howard is the current president of the Screen Actors Guild. He is a Tony Award and two-time Emmy Award winning actor. He has appeared in several films and television shows over the past 40 years. Karn is best known for his role as Al Borland on “Home Improvement”. Since “Home Improvement”, Karn has appeared in several television shows and films. Jaeckel is currently a Champions Tour player but competed in 515 PGA Tour events from 1975-1995. He compiled more than two dozen top 10 finishes including a win at the 1978 Tallahassee Open and a 2nd place finish at the 1981 Tournament Players Championship. Most recently, he played in The First Tee Open, a Champions Tour Event at Pebble Beach, alongside top junior golfers from The First Tee Network, including a few from The First Tee of Southern Nevada.
The 2010 Partee Fore Kids weekend will be held October 29th - November 1and will include a welcome Partee at the SouthPoint Showroom and a Celebrity Texas Hold’Em Poker Partee at the new SouthPoint Poker Room. There will also be a Celebrity-Pro Junior Clinic at Wildhorse Golf Club and Cocktail Partee at The Stratosphere's Top of the World. The four-day event will culminate with the Celebrity Pro-Am golf tournament hosted by DragonRidge Country Club on Nov. 1. Teams and sponsorships are available.

Some of the features include the private 18-hole championship golf course and a 44,000 square-foot clubhouse. In 2009, DragonRidge became home to the prestigious Jack Nicklaus Academy of Golf as well as a brand new 14,000 square-foot state-of-the-art fitness facility.
The First Tee of Southern Nevada is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit youth organization. Gans, who tragically died in 2008, was a big supporter of junior golf in Las Vegas, and helped to create the Partee Fore Kids. The event has raised large dollars for the organization over the years. Cox Communications, led by executive Steve Schorr, stepped in as the presenting sponsor of the tournament to ensure that Gans' name stayed attached to the tournament. Over the years, pros and celebrities who have played in the tournament include Greg and Mike Maddux, Stephanie Louden, Chris Riley, Craig Barlow, Bob May, Rollie Fingers, Nick Faldo, Kevin Sorbo and many others. |
