June 22, 2008--By record, Brady Exber is the finest amateur golfer in the history of Las Vegas, and has dozens of tournament wins and an induction into the Southern Nevada Golf Hall-of-Fame to back up that assumption. And over three days last week at the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort, home of three Pete Dye-designed Las Vegas golf courses, Exber added another Nevada State Amateur championship to his resume. Exber also won the State Amateur in 1991. Exber is a multiple Major tournament champion, and has earned the Southern Nevada Golf Association Player of the Year title an unprecented eight times. Current PGA Tour player Robert Gamez has earned the next most player of the year honors, with four. Exber was inducted into the Hall-of-Fame in 2006, along with Butch Harmon and Tom Storey.
Exber fired a three-round total of 75-74-72--221 to win by four strokes over Richard Mcintosh. Click here to view the final scoring. Exber has also won the season-opening Black Mountain Amateur and the Southern Nevada Senior Amateur. Rob Zoine won the net division by nine strokes over George Yocum and Dean Collins. "I'll never forget the first one in '91, and I'm sure I'll never forget this one. I've been sick since Monday, and I wasn't sure I'd be able to get through the week.
"I don't think people realize that when you turn 50 and you're trying to play golf at a higher level, it takes a lot more work. Believe me, this wasn't easy." The Southern Nevada Golf Association is the arm of the United States Golf Association in Southern Nevada.
