Free Michelob Ultra, Fun to Highlight New Golf League at Palm Valley in Summerlin

Las Vegas, Nevada (April 7, 2014)--A new summer golf league is being introduced at Palm Valley Golf Club, one of three Las Vegas golf courses that is a part of the Golf Summerlin group. Spearheaded by longtime PGA of America professional Shane Sanchez, the leagues will combine fun and competition. Part of the fun is that golfers will get free Michelob Ultra during the league that will take place from June 13 - August 8. The eight-week league is only $160 per player or $25 weekly for drop-in play. The league will include 9 holes every week, the free beer plus weekly raffles and other surprises throughout the league. Pacific Links Adds Third Las Vegas Golf Course to Portfolio

Las Vegas, Nevada (March 15, 2014)--DragonRidge Country Club was recently purchased by Pacific Links and becomes the third Las Vegas golf course to be bought by the international golf conglomerate. Previously the company bought SouthShore Golf Club and Southern Highlands Golf Club, giving it three of Las Vegas' top private country clubs. Pacific Links offers a private golf experience centered around a home club but that offers member privileges at top country clubs around the world. Golf Balls to Fly 400 Yards During Championship at Pete Dye's Las Vegas Paiute

Las Vegas, Nevada (February 28, 2014)--There are three signature Pete Dye golf courses at the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort, which rests in the desert on the outskirts of Las Vegas. On November 4, golf balls will be flying 400+ yards at the venue as the Las Vegas finals of the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship will be held at the resort for the first time. The event will be aired live on Golf Channel and culminate Long Drive Month on the network. Qualifying will be held in Mesquite, Nevada, from September 17-27 to determine the "Las Vegas 8" finalists who tee it up in Las Vegas. --By Brian Hurlburt.

They seem to win their fair share and recently the editors of Colorado's Avid Golfer recognized the resort, home to the only three Pete Dye signature golf courses in the Las Vegas Golf Region, as one of the three best Las Vegas golf experiences. Las Vegas, Nevada (February 17, 2014)--It seemed like two champions of the 2014 Las Vegas World Amateur golf tournament must have been paid off by tournament organizers to speak in such superlatives about the tournament. But Jim Keatts and Brian Mathis assured this writer they were only speaking the truth as they believed it. "Word of mouth is important and all I know is that this was a wonderful experience," said Keatts, a retired eye surgeon from Texas who won the Legend Flight. "All of the golf courses were exemplary, the tournament organizers were friendly and professional, and, in my honest opinion, this was one of the best tournaments I've every played in, and I've played about forty of these type of events."  --By Brian Hurlburt.

Las Vegas, Nevada (January 15, 2014)--Soldier Daniel Meyer served his country proudly. But while on a tour of duty in Afghanistan, he was exposed to burn pits where the military burns trash. That exposure changed his future because he now suffers from bronchiolitis obliterans, a terminal illness. But a silver lining for Meyer is a love of the game of golf. Meyer was introduced to the game about a year ago during an event hosted by Las Vegas Golf Region resident Butch Harmon and his Harmon's Heroes Foundation. Las Vegas Golf Course Superintendent Bill Rohret Earns PGA Award

Las Vegas, Nevada (January 13, 2014)--Longtime Las Vegas golf course superintendent Bill Rohret and his wife, Dian, were recently awarded the 2013 Citizens of the Year Award by the Southern Nevada Chapter, Southwest Section, PGA of America. The award is annually given by the chaper to those individuals who provide expemplary efforts within their community. Las Vegas, Nevada (January 2, 2014)--It had been about four months since all three of the Pete Dye courses at the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort had been operational. Ever since major flooding hit the resort in late August, the staff has been on a mission to restore the courses back to the shape that visiting and local Las Vegas golfers have come to expect. And as of January 1, 2014, all three are back and as good--better?--than before as The Wolf was officially reopened. General Manager Chad Gunier was part of the first foursome out on the course on New Year's Day, and he shares the sentiments of many of his fellow golfers who also played the course on the first day of the New Year. --By Brian Hurlburt

Doing Good In Mesquite Brings Joy and Toys To Kids Through Golf

Las Vegas, Nevada (December 17, 2013)--Several Mesquite golf courses were the site for the 9th annual Golf Fore Kids toy drive and fundraiser. The event originated in 2005 at Falcon Ridge Golf Club but in 2013, four courses were used for the event which helped collect $48,000 in toy donations including 120 bikes and scooters. "The spirit of this tournament has been contagious and continues to expand each year," said Mindee West, an original tournament organizer. "A huge thanks to all the wonderful volunteers, sponsors, donors, and golfers who are involved in this event!  In all the chaos of the world, it is nice to see so much love, generosity and support from the wonderful people in this community and surrounding areas." -- By Brian Hurlburt.
