While there is still a long way to go, once again the depth of quality golf in the Las Vegas Golf Region is on display on the PGA Tour. Some of it was his own doing--waggles not seen since Sergio Garcia a few years ago--while some of it was out of his control including some major heckling. Las Vegas, Nevada (March 23, 2012)--Las Vegas Golf Region resident Ryan Moore had the shot of the day at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Moore aced the 201-yard, par 3, 7th hole. Moore used a 5-iron and the hole-in-one moved him to 1-under par for the day at the time. The ace also helped raise $1,000 through Birdies4Shriners sponsored by Shift4. But Davis Love III won the 1993 Las Vegas Invitational, and also lost to Tiger Woods in a playoff at the 1996 Las Vegas Invitational. Love III fired a 29-under par in 1993 to win by eight shots, the largest margin in tourney history. Tickets are now on sale for the 2012 Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. Las Vegas, Nevada (February 24, 2012)--PGA Tour star Nick Watney moved to the Las Vegas Golf Region a few years ago to be closer to Las Vegas resident Butch Harmon. Watney is now an official Las Vegas golfer--along with about two dozen other Tour stars--and his latest claim to fame is taking down Tiger Woods in what Watney described as an "away" match. Las Vegas, Nevada (January 21, 2012)--Las Vegas PGA Tour star Ryan Moore won everything in amateur golf during a magical 2004 season while playing at UNLV. While his pro career to this point hasn't been quite as magical, he still has had plenty of success including a PGA Tour victory.
