Las Vegas, Nevada (March 23, 2012)--Las Vegas Golf Region resident Ryan Moore had the shot of the day at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Moore aced the 201-yard, par 3, 7th hole. Moore used a 5-iron and the hole-in-one moved him to 1-under par for the day at the time. But Davis Love III won the 1993 Las Vegas Invitational, and also lost to Tiger Woods in a playoff at the 1996 Las Vegas Invitational. Love III fired a 29-under par in 1993 to win by eight shots, the largest margin in tourney history. Tickets are now on sale for the 2012 Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. Las Vegas, Nevada (February 24, 2012)--PGA Tour star Nick Watney moved to the Las Vegas Golf Region a few years ago to be closer to Las Vegas resident Butch Harmon. Watney is now an official Las Vegas golfer--along with about two dozen other Tour stars--and his latest claim to fame is taking down Tiger Woods in what Watney described as an "away" match. And it is becoming routine for Harmon disciples to beat Tiger. --By Brian Hurlburt.

Las Vegas, Nevada (January 21, 2012)--Las Vegas PGA Tour star Ryan Moore won everything in amateur golf during a magical 2004 season while playing at UNLV. While his pro career to this point hasn't been quite as magical, he still has had plenty of success including a PGA Tour victory. And the 2012 season is off to a decent start for Moore, especially after a scorchinig putter helped him fire a second-round 61 at the Humana Challenge with new caddie Tony Navarro on the bag. --By Brian Hurlburt

Las Vegas, Nevada (January 16, 2012)--Gary Woodland made his debut in Las Vegas at the Wendy's 3-Tour Challenge late in 2011. The event is annually played in November at Las Vegas golf course Rio Secco Golf Club, which is also the home course of the Butch Harmon School of Golf. Woodland possibly killed a couple birds with one Titleist, so to speak, as he played in the benefit event and the seeds of a new partnership with Harmon might have been planted. --By Brian Hurlburt.

Las Vegas, Nevada (January 13, 2012)--The annual Southern Nevada Chapter, Southwest Section PGA of America Awards ceremony was held January 10 on the campus of UNLV, home of a very successful Professional Golf Management program. One of the evening highlights came when former United States Marine Thom Blinkinsop was honored as the 2011 Golf Professional of the Year. Blinkinsop is the general manager of Red Rock Country Club and Siena Golf Club, and oversees 54 holes of Las Vegas golf. --By Brian Hurlburt

Las Vegas, Nevada (January 11, 2012)--Chris Cain will become the first PGA of America professional from the Southern Nevada Chapter to be named Southwest Section PGA of America Professional of the Year. The honor will be officially bestowed opon him on January 13 at a ceremony in Arizona. Cain, who is the director of the Professional Golf Management program at UNLV, was also named the 2010 Golf Professional of the Year at the chapter level. --By Brian Hurlburt (with press release).
