LIVE SCORING: Former UNLV Player Plummets With Final Round 79 at Zurich

April 21,2007--Charley Hoffman, a member of UNLV's 1999 National Championship golf team, was tied for fourth after two rounds of play at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. He trailed leader Mark Caclcavecchia by only two shots. Earlier this season, Hoffman won the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic for his first PGA Tour win. But a horrendous final round 79 dropped him 62 spots from where he started the third rouny to a finish in a tie for 66th.

Hoffman still lives in Las Vegas when not playing on the PGA Tour, and while at UNLV played and practiced at many Las Vegas golf courses including Southern Highlands Golf Club, Shadow Creek Golf Club, TPC Canyons, TPC Summerlin, Las Vegas Country Club and many others.

Other PGA Tour players with ties to Las Vegas playing in the Zurich Classic include Tommy Armour III who finished 80th, and former UNLV All-American Ryan Moore who fired a final round 68 to move up to finish tied for 11th. Other Las Vegas PGA Tour pros Robert Gamez, Scott Piercy and Chris Riley all missed the cut.

Hoffman's final round included four bogeys, a triple bogey and zero birdies.
