May 29, 2009--Alex Prugh, who as of this writing was ranked third on the 2009 Nationwide Tour money list, is a recent transplant to Las Vegas. He plays and practices at Las Vegas golf course TPC Las Vegas, and moved to Las Vegas for several reasons. He was a buddie of former UNLV golfer Andres Gonzales who still lives here, and moved here on his advice. And, oh yeah, he's dating a girl from Spokane--his hometown--who recently moved to Las Vegas. Prugh won the 2009 Michael Hill New Zealand Open on the Nationwide Tour.

"I'm there for the golf (courses)," Prugh recently told PGATour.com. "I grew up playing high school golf with Andres Gonzales, who played a little on the (Nationwide) Tour. I was going to go to Phoenix and probably move there, but I called Andres up, and he said come down. I had met a girl from Spokane who was living in Las Vegas, and I've never left because of her. We're still dating."

Prugh turned pro in 2007 after attending the University of Washington, despite deep family and friend ties to the University of Oregon. "My brother was already attending there," Prugh said about his decision to attend UW. "I did consider the University of Oregon. I had a couple of buddies who were there. And both my folks went there. But I always knew I was going to go to Washington." Prugh's father played college golf with Las Vegas author and golf personality Jack Sheehan.
