November 11, 2007 (UPDATED Nov. 12)--Veteran newspaper writer Steve Carp of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, most well-known for his coverage of the UNLV Rebel basketball team, had a plum assignment recently when he spent some time with Las Vegas golfer Natalie Gulbis on the putting green of Las Vegas golf course The Falls Golf Club at Lake Las Vegas Resort. Gulbis is a member of the LPGA Tour team for the Wendy's Three-Tour Challenge that is being played Tuesday on Las Vegas golf course Reflection Bay Golf Club, a Jack Nicklaus design. "I love it here," Gulbis says in the LVRJ article about living at Lake Las Vegas, where she has a business arrangement to represent the three Las Vegas golf courses at the resort (the private SouthShore Golf Club is the other). "It's so beautiful here. I love the weather. The people are warm, and they embrace you. It's the perfect place for me." Gulbis finished third over the weekend in the LPGA Tour Tournament of Champions. For more ...
Gulbis is joined on the LPGA Tour team this year for the Wendy's Three-Tour Challenge by Christie Kerr and Morgan Pressel. The PGA Tour team for the Wendy's Three-Tour Challenge is Chris DiMarco, Camilo Villegas and Bubba Watson. The Champions PGA Tour team for the Wendy's Three-Tour Challenge is Fred Funk, Jay Haas and Nick Price. In 2006, the PGA Tour team of Stewart Cink , Zach Johnson and Scott Verplank won the event. This year marks the second-straight appearance in the event by Gulbis who lives on a fairway of Reflection Bay Golf Club, the first resort course built in Nevada by Jack Nicklaus. The Wendy's Three-Tour Challenge is open to the public. Click here for complete 2007 Wendy's Three-Tour Challenge information.

Gulbis works with Butch Harmon at Las Vegas golf course Rio Secco Golf Club and the Butch Harmon School of Golf. "As long as she's hitting the ball square with the club face, she's fine," Harmon told Carp about Gulbis' game. "She's a good student, very attentive, always wanting to learn and improve." In 2007, Gulbis earned her first LPGA Tour victory by winning the Evian Masters. She also earned more than $700,000 and was a member of the victorious US Solheim Cup team.
