April 14, 2009--Tom Fazio is a master golf architect, and he lived up to his reputation two times at Primm Valley Golf Club--home of the Lakes and Desert Las Vegas golf courses--that are located about 35 minutes from the heart of Las Vegas Strip. Primm Valley Golf Club has collected many awards over the years, including a 4.5 star rating from Golf Digest's Best You Can Play in 2008-09, and a Top 100 You Can Play distinction from GOLF Magazine in 2003 in addition to many other accolades from different golf publications. And through May 31st, Las Vegas golf packages at Primm Valley Golf Club start at just $90 per player.
The Lakes is a stunning, 18-hole journey highlighted by trees, water and typical landmark Fazio bunkers, while the Desert is home to a bit less vegetation but isn't a typical 'desert' course as the name implies. As Fazio once said, "Primm is a golf course in the desert; not a desert golf course." Both courses live up to Fazio billing, but each offer their own unique styles. The Lakes seems to be the favorite of a few more golfers, but there are plenty who pick the Desert as their course of choice. For Fazio to choose, it would be like a Father picking a favorite child. About The Lakes from PrimmValleyGolf.com: "The Lakes Course opened in February of 1997 and was quickly given the ranking as one of the Top Ten Best New Courses that same year by Golf Digest Magazine. The Lakes Course will take you out of the desert and into another world. Complete with dense groves of tall pine trees, an extensive lakes and river system (in play on 11 holes) and acre-upon-acre of beautifully manicured green rye grass interrupted only by numerous bunkers. Generous fairways that slope towards the middle make the course very player friendly, but don’t be fooled. This 6,945-yard par-71 course is a challenge that puts even the best golfer to the test. The undulating, well-bunkered greens and plenty of water hazards will make it difficult to tame this beautiful beast."
About The Desert from PrimmValleyGolf.com: "The Desert Course opened in May 1998 and was built to showcase the beautiful desert landscaping and providing a stark contrast to the almost-tropical Lakes Course. Slightly more demanding of the player's ability, it measures 7,131 yards with a par of 72. The course is accented with palm and mesquite trees, as well as colorful cactus and desert wildflowers to give it a true desert feeling. Where water was used on the Lakes Course, vast stretches of waste bunkers border the fairways on seven holes. Water does come into play on five holes, and narrow fairways with elevation changes and large, well-bunkered greens test even the most skilled players." |
