In a previous headline, we at GolfLasVegasNow.com claimed "Florida Sucks for Las Vegas Golf PGA Tour Pros." Well, two of them are proving us wrong and have made the cut at the PODS Championship being played in Florida, and are battling for Top 15 finishes, or better.

Former UNLV Rebel greats Charley Hoffman and Ryan Moore were tied for 11th midway through their final rounds. Moore was the only PGA Tour pro with Las Vegas ties that was in the top 20 after round one, and at the Honda Classic–also played in Florida–the previous week, the Las Vegas contingent of six players all missed the cut.

This week, Las Vegas resident Dean Wilson also made the cut as did 2006 FRYS.com Open (Las Vegas' PGA Tour event) champion Troy Matteson.

Missing the cut were former Clark High School great Robert Gamez, former Rebel Chad Campbell and Henderson Craig Barlow, who withdrew during the second round. Look for a story on his withdrawal Monday on GolfLasVegasNow.com.

All of the Las Vegas PGA Tour pros have played golf on many of the Las Vegas golf courses including Rio Secco, Bali Hai Golf Club, TPC Summerlin, Southern Highlands, TPC Canyons, Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort and many more.
