June 21, 2007–The team representing TPC CanyonsDan Hammel, Todd Hajduk, Jim Saub and Christine Fernandezfired a seven-under-par total of 135 to beat 15 other teams in winning the 5th Annual VegasGolfer Pro Golf Showdown. The TPC Canyons victory snapped a three-year run of titles by Shadow Creek. Southern Highlands won the inaugural event. The team of four players split the top prize of $10,000 that went to the championship team. The VegasGolfer Pro Golf Showdown was created when writer Jack Sheehan wrote that the best golf course "team" in the valley would be Southern Highlands, hands down. Then publisher Brian Hurlburt helped secure Rio Secco Golf Club –through a generous donation from Eric Dutt–and an annual event was born, and who REALLY was the best team was decided on the course. The staff at VegasGolfer Magazine works hard to ensure that the event is first-class, and everyone has a great time.
Second place went to the host team, The Falls, at three-under. The Falls won $3,000. Shadow Creek finished third and earned $2,000.
Sponsors for the 2007 event included The Falls Golf Club, Johnnie Walker and the Diageo portfolio of brands, Michelob Ultra, Smart Water and Vitamin Water, Towbin Infiniti, Cigars by Perdomo, TaylorMade-Adidas, Callaway, Trion:Z, Oakley, Red Bull, Brooks Brothers, Sharpie, Pahr 72 Fairway Essentials, Alias Shoes, Musty Putters, Bass Pro Shops, Peak Vision, Nickent Clubs and Bobby Jones.
