August 14, 2007–Actor Samuel L. Jackson is a self-proclaimed bad motherf…, and he is also a pretty good golfer. Recently he was interviewed on ESPN 920 radio in Las Vegas by host Dug Dugless, and talked about golf and what his favorite Las Vegas golf courses are. His top three Las Vegas golf courses are Shadow Creek, Cascata and Royal Links Golf Club (pictured), and he also admitted that the best thing about being Samuel L. Jackson is the "access" it provides. By "access" he meant being able to play the world's best golf courses. Jackson also said he loves the summer in Las Vegas because there aren't as many people out playing golf.
Las Vegas golf course Cascata is a Rees Jones design that Sports Illustrated once called golf's hidden treasure. It is owned by Harrah's, but anyone can play the course for an investment of $350 during the week and $500 on the weekend. For our money, it is the best client golf experience in Las Vegas.
Las Vegas golf course Shadow Creek is a Tom Fazio design that has been called the world's best golf course by the Robb Report. It is owned by MGM Mirage and is only open to guests at their hotel properties. Lockers with name plates include Michael Jordan, George Bush and many other high profile names. Tiger Woods holds the course record of 60 at the golf course.
Las Vegas golf course Royal Links Golf Club is owned by Walters Golf, and its holes were inspired by the holes played at the golf courses in the British Open rotation. You will find holes from St. Andrews, Troon, Carnoustie and many others at the course, and castle-like clubhouse perfectly adds to the overall theming of this golf experience.
In the interview, Jackson, a four handicap, wrongly called Royal Links "British Links" but also said the reason he likes the golf course is because he has played many of the original golf courses across the pond and thinks that the Royal Links Las Vegas golf experience is comparable. He also said that his favorite golf course in the world is Spyglass at Pebble Beach.
