Image August 20, 2007–Well, the PGA Tour's foray into a playoff system kicks off this weekend with the first of four playoff events. And six golfers with Las Vegas golf course ties and/or ties to the UNLV golf team have qualified for the playoffs. Adam Scott (pictured) is ranked number 10 while Charley Hoffman (46), Ryan Moore (51), Dean Wilson (75), Chad Campbell (106) and Tommy Armour III (111) also have chance at the $35 million in bonus money and $10 million that goes to the overall winner of the FedEx Cup. A total of 144 players qualified for the playoffs, and their total points entering the event have been reset, starting from the number one qualifier Tiger Woods (100) down to the 144th qualifier, Jeff Gove (84,700). The first event is the Barclays in New York with 144 players with the top 120 going to play the Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston and then the to 70 move to the BMW Championship in Chicago before the top 30 play the Coca-Cola Tour Championship in Atlanta to determine the champion.

The PGA Tour season doesn't end with the Tour Championship as the Fall Series, including the Las Vegas PGA Tour event, the FRYS.com Open, will be played with the rest of the top 125 money earners being decided.
