UNLV Men’s Golf Finish Third at Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate

October 10, 2007–The No. 16 UNLV men's golf team shot a final-round 1-over-par 285 and finished third at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate on Tuesday at the Old Overton Golf Club (par 71, 6,958 yards). The Rebels, who were just six shots back of host Alabama to start the day, finished at 23-under 829 for the tournament, 19 shots behind team champion Alabama. The Crimson Tide shot a final-round low 12-under 727 to finish at 42-under 810.

UAB finished second at 25-under, while Auburn and Florida rounded out the top five at 22-under and 21-under, respectively.

The Rebels home golf course in Las Vegas is Southern Highlands Golf Club but they play and practice at most of the best Las Vegas golf courses.

Alabama's Mark Harrell and East Tennessee State's Seamus Power earned co-medalist honors at 15-under 198 for the tournament. Harrell shot a 3-under 68 during the final round, while Power fired a 4-under 67.

UNLV was led by Seung-su Han, who shot even par during the final round to finish at 11-under 202 to tie for sixth place.

Other Rebel final-round scores, totals and places: Brandon Loska, 72, 4-under 209, T18th; Ji Moon, 73, 3-under 210, T20th; Eddie Olson, 71, 2-under 211, T23rd;Jarred Texter, 71, 1-under 212, T26th.

UNLV's next action will be Oct. 22-23, at the Sycuan Collegiate in San Diego, Calif. UNLV will not play as a team, but will send individuals to compete.
