November 7, 2007–UNLV junior men's golfer Seung-su Han and Colorado State sophomore Bryce Hanstad, have been selected the Mountain West Conference Men's Co-Golfers of the Month for October, the league announced Wednesday. In UNLV's only tournament of the month, Han, an Incheon, South Korea, native, led the Rebels to a third-place finish at the at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, Oct. 8-9, in Birmingham, Ala. The 12-team tournament featured nine of the Top 50 programs in the country, led by third-ranked Alabama, who captured the overall title.
Han carded a 54-hole total of 11-under, 202 (66-75-71) on the 6,958-yard Old Overton Golf Course. A two-time All-Mountain West Conference golfer, Han has posted a 68.33 scoring average in six rounds played this fall. At the Jerry Pate, Han tied for sixth place. His 11-under total and 6-under 65 (second round) are both seasonal lows for the Rebels in relation to par. The tie for sixth place marks his second top-10 finish of the year in as many tournaments played. Han's scoring average for his three rounds in Alabama was 67.33.
This marks Han's third career golfer of the month award and second this season. He was also name the MWC Golfer of the Month for September.Hanstad, a first-time honoree, competed in four tournaments during the month of October and posted a scoring average of 73.17 over 12 rounds. He paced the Rams at three of the four tournaments and led Colorado State to the team title at the Del Walker Intercollegiate.
