September 20, 2008–UNLV junior Natasha Krishna finished second to lead UNLV to third place at the season-opening Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, which concluded Saturday at the UNM Championship Course. Krishna fired a second consecutive three-under 70 for a 54-hole total of 214 (-5), coming up one strokes short of Jodi Ewart of New Mexico for medalist honors with a six-under 213. UNLV posted a team total of 889 (+13), behind first-place New Mexico (872, -4) and second-place No.8-Pepperdine (876, E). "We made a great move today to finish third overall at a really good tournament," UNLV head coach Missy Ringler said. "Natasha played really well and I think this could be a breakout year for her. Overall I am very proud of our team."

Krishna was two over on her round at the turn but finished with five birdies over her last nine holes, including four over the final five to finish in second place. UNLV sophomore Therese Koelbaek also finished in the top 10, coming in tied for 10th with a total of 221 (+2).

Alejandra Guacaneme (225, +6) finished tied for 22nd after shooting a final-round 71 (-2), Bethany Glassford (232, +13) finished tied for 45th and freshman Kristen Schelling (234, +15) tied for 55th to round out the Rebel scorecard. UNLV senior Kasi Lee played as an individual and tied for 75th with a three-round total of 241 (+22).
