October 3, 2008–Over the years, Las Vegas golf courses have been a home away from home for the world's celebrities. The list is long of those notables who have played golf on some of the best Las Vegas golf courses like Shadow Creek, Cascata, Southern Highlands Golf Club, Bali Hai Golf Club, TPC Las Vegas and many more. And on October 15, the list will grow as several celebs have signed on to play in the Wednesday Celebrity Pro-am that kicks off Las Vegas' PGA Tour event, the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. The list includes gold medalist Amanda Beard and Josh Duhamel of NBC Las Vegas fame, along with Josh Kelley, Chris Kirkpatrick, George Lopez (pictured) and John O’Hurley.
The event is being sponsored by Golf Digest, the publication that recently featured Timberlake on the cover. Other celebrities scheduled to be in town during the week are the Jonas Brothers, 50 Cent, and Rihanna, who will take the stage on Friday night, October 17, at Planet Hollywood at the signature entertainment event of the week. “I just want to make Wednesday an entertaining day for the fans who come out and really love the game …maybe we'll all learn something and we'll have fun in the process,” Timberlake was quoted as saying in a press release.
"We at Golf Digest are incredibly honored to sponsor the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Celebrity Pro-Am," said Golf Digest VP and Publisher Thomas J. Bair. "Justin, the celebrities and the tour players will not only enjoy a tremendous day of golf, they will also be supporting a truly worthy cause. This is what golf is all about: sport, competition and giving back. We are proud to be a part of this event." Several PGA Tour pros are scheduled to play in the celebrity event as well including Hunter Mahan, Jesper Parnevik, and former Masters champs Mike Weir and Zach Johnson.
Fans are invited to join in the fun and come out and watch the celebrities compete alongside PGA TOUR professionals.
