The Ladies Were Crowned at Paiute! July 6, 2009–The Women's Southern Nevada Golf Association recently held the annual team championships at the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort, and the team from Las Vegas Country Club was the overall team champions, defeating the team from Las Vegas Golf Club. The team from Las Vegas' Black Mountain Golf and County Club won the net division by defeating the team from Oasis Golf Club representing Mesquite, Nevada. The Revere Golf Club won the gross division by defeating neighborhood rivals Anthem Country Club. Continue reading for more ladies golf news from Las Vegas.

Representing the Las Vegas Country Club during the final match were Larren Buckley, Pat Corona, Tammy Gephardt, Jan Giunta, Lois Growney, Jean Hong, Dianne Jett and Rene Raynes. Also, the WSNGA recently announced the qualifiers for the annual Silver Cup competition that is played against a team from Northern Nevada. This year's event is September 21-13 at Somerset Country Club in the Reno area. The team from Northern Nevada is the defending champion as the two team tied at 20 points each in 2008. The team from the North won in 2007 and thus retained the Cup in 2008.

The Women’s Southern Nevada Golf Association’s Silver Cup Team was announced by Captains Laura Smith and Janet Weber following a two-day qualifying event at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort. The Silver Cup is a Ryder Cup-style competition matching the top women golfers from Northern Nevada against those from Southern Nevada.

Representing Southern Nevada will be Masako Brown, Ruth Carroll, Debbie Dean, Sue DeFrancesco, Doe Emes, Fay Geddes, Tammy Gephardt, Dana Haldeman, Sherry Jackson, Laurie Johnson, Lynn King, Brenda Knott, Debbie Love, Pauline May, Christina Monteiro, Theresa Prospero, Penny Schilling, Laura Smith, Nina Steirer and Janet Weber. Veteran Silver Cup player Brenda Knott was the medalist shooting even par 144 for the two days, and low net player was Penny Schilling with 136.
