Tom Fazio's Desert Course at Primm Will Host Some of Nation's Best Women Golfers August 14, 2009–Two gems of Las Vegas golf are the Tom Fazio-designed Las Vegas golf courses at Primm Valley Golf Club. The Desert and Lakes Las Vegas golf courses are located about 35 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, and in September, the Desert course will host the inaugural Golfweek's Conference Challenge, an event bringing some of the top women's college golf teams to the Las Vegas area. Primm Valley Golf Club is a Las Vegas golf resort open to all Las Vegas golfers.

Golfweek magazine – dubbed the most authentic, authoritative and independent name in golf – kicks off the fall 2009 collegiate golf season with the first-ever Golfweek's Conference Challenge, which pits Division I teams from across the nation against each other for a chance to represent their respective conferences and compete for bragging rights. A men's competition will be held Aug. 29-Sept. 1 at Blue Top Ridge in Riverside, Iowa, while the women's competition – sponsored by communications company VTech – will take place at Primm Valley Golf Club's Desert Course in Primm, Nev., Sept. 12-15.

Marking the first major event of the season for college golf, Golfweek's Conference Challenge features only one team from each conference, all competing in a 54-hole, stroke-play format. Golfweek's editorial staff will provide full coverage of each tournament. "We are very excited to be part of an event that will bring teams together from all levels of Division I golf," said Lance Ringler, host of GolfweekTV's Off Campus show and assistant editor for Golfweek.com, plus a Las Vegas resident. "We were able to attract several men's and women's programs that played in the NCAA Championship last season and many more that participated in regional play. We expect Golfweek's Conference Challenge to be very competitive and hope to continue this event in seasons to come."

Primm Valley Golf Club is located at the stateline of California and Nevada, and is the crown jewel of the town of Primm, a gaming burg that features resorts with live gaming, a large concert arena that hosts acts such as Reba McIntyre, Bill Engvall, the Beach Boys, and many others, a large recreation area including a roller coaster, an outlet mall, restaurants, and much more. Primm Valley has also been established as one of the best Las Vegas golf deals with Las Vegas golf packages starting at under $100.
