The OB Sports Team Championship was played at Gary Panks' Aliante November 19, 2009–The High Meadow Ranch Team from Magnolia, Texas, claimed the 2009 OB Sports National Team Championship presented by GPS Industries this weekend. The tournament wasd played at two Las Vegas golf courses, Aliante Golf Club and The Legacy Golf Club, and brought together teams OB Sports-managed daily fee and resort properties from around the country in a team competition. OB Sports also manages Las Vegas golf facility Angel Park Golf Club, where the opening party was held.

Each participating OB Sports-managed golf club, 13 total from throughout the U.S., fielded an eight-person team grouped together in four, two-person teams. The teams were made up of seven qualifiers from the club plus the club’s golf professional. Daily prizes were awarded to the top three, two-person teams from each flight (Scratch Flight, 1st Flight, and 2nd Flight). In addition, each team posted its best three, two-person-team net scores, across both days of competition and the team with the lowest net score was crowned the overall champion. High Meadow Ranch posted a two-day total of 426 to win by six strokes over Sandia Golf Club and defending champion Tijeras Creek Golf Club.

“Our team truly played consistently and avoided the blow-up holes that might have came back to bite some of the other teams,” said High Meadow team captain, Cody Spivey. “We finished strong by stringing together a host of natural birdies and net birdies. That was huge. Plus another key to our win was the play of Lynn “Woody” Wydrick and Joe Armstong who played amazingly. They were under par both days and shot 66 during the final round to help lead us to victory." Additionally, the High Meadow Ranch team had an emotional leader in the form of Carl Tolbert who survived a near fatal car accident in March of 2009.

Undeterred, Carl recovered nicely and was determined to start playing golf again with a goal to be back playing in time for the OB Sports National Team Championship. He did, in fact, recover enough to start playing the game again and team captain Spivey awarded Carl with the captain's pick. “It was great that Carl could be part of our team and during this event," said Spivey. "This victory is a great story for not only High Meadow but for Carl as well who was truly blessed to even be with us. One look on Carl’s face during the trophy presentation and it was clear that he was lucky to not only be playing the game again but also be at here in the first place."

“Congratulations to High Meadow Ranch for grinding out two great days of golf and capturing ‘The Cup’," said Dave Goff, Vice President of Operations for OB Sports. “Also hats off to the host facilities, Aliante and The Legacy, for putting on a great event in Las Vegas.
