TPC Las Vegas was designed by PGA Tour Design Services with Bobby Weed serving as the lead architect. World Golf Hall-of-Famer Raymond Floyd served as the PGA Tour consultant on the project, and has high praise for what was created in the Las Vegas desert that overlooks the Las Vegas valley."As far as aesthetics and playability, I would put TPC Las Vegas up against any golf course you care to mention," Floyd has said about TPC Las Vegas, formerly named TPC Canyons. "It's as unique as they come and I'm very proud of the way it has turned out, especially given the challenges of designing a golf course on such a challenging piece of property. "But I think a golf course is kind of like a fine wine. The best come from the toughest pieces of ground."
TPC Las Vegas has been the host course for many PGA Tour and Champions Tour golf events, and such champions as Jim Furyk, Stuart Appleby, Jim Colbert and Hale Irwin have been determined in those Las Vegas golf events. There is a deep and meaningful professional golf history at TPC Las Vegas, and that tradition is carried on by the many Las Vegas residents who play on the major golf tours, including those previously mentioned, plus newly confirmed Las Vegas golfers such as Ricky Fowler, John Mallinger, and Nationwide Tour player Won Joon Lee. Nearly all of them play and practice at TPC Las Vegas at some point during the off season or off weeks on the tours.
Fowler moved to Summerlin recently, while Mallinger and Lee both have been spotted playing and practicing at TPC Las Vegas for awhile, and are said to live in the area. Adding those three golfers into the pool of golfers with strong Las Vegas ties that play on the major golf tours brings the total number to around 32, giving Las Vegas more evidence to confirm it as being the World's Ultimate Golf City. Besides TPC Las Vegas, there are more than 50 world class Las Vegas golf courses in the Las Vegas golf region.
