June 15, 2010–There are three Pete Dye Las Vegas golf courses located at the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort, and recently the resort has swept off the welcome mat for all lady Las Vegas golfers. Evidence to that fact is that participation in the local Las Vegas ladies golf league at this resort Las Vegas golf course is up 90 percent according to Paiute staff. But the welcome sign for visiting and local lady golfers is always on at the Paiute.–By Brian Hurlburt.
“Being a golfer myself, I found it hard to find other ladies to play with," says assistant Tournament Director Ayeesha Kosugi. "The ladies league introduces women to the game of golf and offers another avenue to meet other professional women in a fun and social environment." While this league is mostly devoted to the local lady golfer, each of the three Dye courses at the Paiute can offer fun and challenge to visiting ladies. And visiting ladies are welcome to join in these 9-hole events on every other Saturday for just $25 per player. Click to realpuregolf.com for more details. For a bit more, golfers can play all 18 holes. Other ladies events are scheduled throughout the year. And according to the another avid golfer, Cindy Bowman, the wife of longtime Las Vegas golf writer, Bill, the Paiute is one of the more women-friendly courses. The Bowmans wrote the following at LasVegasGolf.com recently about the Las Vegas golf courses at Paiute: "Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort includes three beautiful golf courses: Sun Mountain, Snow Mountain and the Wolf. Set in the desert with absolutely no housing or buildings nearby, it's nature at its finest. At about 5,300 yards from the forward tees, Sun Mountain and Snow Mountain are not overly long but present a good scoring challenge. The more difficult Wolf tests your chipping ability and short game in general. The Wolf also showcases an island green – this time surrounded by water."
Founded by the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe, Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort was the first master planned multi-course resort to be developed on Native American land in the United States. Paiute offers three championship Las Vegas golf courses, facilities and catering for corporate events, wedding ceremonies and receptions, and a full-scale clubhouse, which includes an award-winning Pro Shop, restaurant, bar, outdoor terrace, and smoking/cigar lounge. Recipient of the World Golf Hall of Fame (WGHOF) 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award and 2008 inductee into the WGHOF, Pete Dye, is the creative force behind the design of Snow Mountain, Sun Mountain, and WOLF, currently the longest course in Nevada.
Host to many national tournaments and signature events, Paiute is the recipient of numerous nationally recognized awards, including 4½ Stars on each course from Golf Digest, one of the “Best 27 Courses in the West” by PGA Pros of PGA Magazine, “Best State by State” Public Access Rankings from GolfWeek Magazine, and “Best Playing Conditions in Southern Nevada” and “Best Value – Worth the Green Fee” by the readers of Greenskeeper.org.
